About the Role

This is a high-impact role ideal for someone who thrives in a broad position, combining technical accounting, commercial insight, and systems improvement.

We are looking to bring on an Accountant who is focusing on month-end processes, reconciliations, and supporting the transactional accounting team as needed - alongside reporting and hands-on involvement in process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Prepare and deliver accurate monthly financial statements and management reports
  • Reviewing junior staff work (where applicable)
  • Tax compliance - preparing monthly BAS reports, quarterly/annual income tax returns and FBT payments
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes with timely financial data and analysis
  • Perform data entry and assist with the maintenance of accounting records
  • Provide support to the accounting team in completing routine tasks and ad-hoc projects
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements and accounting standards
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and integrity across multiple entities
  • Liaise with auditors and assist with preparation of audit documentation
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance financial operations
  • Provide financial insights to support business performance and decision-making

 

Role Requirements:

  • 3+ years of Proven experience in a hands-on Company Accountant or similar role
  • A keen interest in accounting and finance
  • Proven ability to use Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to liaise effectively with customers and State Branches
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence with numbers with a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to follow all company policies

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CA or CPA qualification – or towards the end of completing it
  • 3+ years of Demonstrated experience in a financial accounting role, ideally within a medium to large business
  • Solid understanding of Australian accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills and ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
